QE2 in Sami
Well she's here! The QE2 came in this morning. Just off to Sami to be a tourist, munch on an ice cream, slurp a coffee and cop a pickie. I will post it in this thread later today. :-D TDC 8) P.S. It's tough being here all summer, you don't know how hard I work (sweat) to keep you all informed............and what thanks do I get? NOWT!

Hi TDC, great photo. I only arrived 5 minutes before QE2 departed so missed all the 'people watching'. My friend overheard a woman passenger, approx 70, on the phone who was chasing a 96 year old male passenger but didn't fancy her chances as there were approx 50 other single women on the ship in hot pursuit of the money. Sounds like a travelling orgy. Does Jimmy Saville rent a room on QE2 permanently? :)

Is that you in the pic TDC? Are you in the hi-vis stuff or the pink? jed.w 8)

Yup! in the pink as it were Jed. The things I will do get get listed in a will! The ship was described to me as a "Bucket" ship as it is on so many people's list of things to do before the bucket is kicked! Now where's my tights??????? TDC 8)

The ship "BBC Romania" was here earlier this week offloading bits for windmills, and, desperate to snaffle bandwidth, I did a search and found a great site that lets you track all the boats, ships (as barmen here call crisps) and other various floaty things in the world. BBC Romania came here from Argos (true!) with its load, so if it doesn't work you know why! I couldn't find QE2, but that's prolly cos of security stuff. Have fun(ish)...Doncha just luurve t'interweb! As at 02.10 local...but play about with the address as you will! http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/default.aspx?oldmmsi=236352000&zoom=10&olddate=5/19/2008%2011:04:13%20PM And yes that is my pic of the Romania from CALLIOPE - THE BEST APARTMENT WITH THE BEST VIEW OF AGHIA EFIMIA...(I'll talk to you about next year Paul!)

Aw shucks Malc!
Now I'm embarassed!!!    By the way if you email me the picture I will insert it for you. This is just in, it makes for interesting reading because our numbers are up by 50% this year!!! The strength of the euro has reached its highest mark against the pound since its introduction in 1999 - smashing through the 80p barrier - and the weakness of sterling has made many people think twice about their holiday plans this year. According to a poll of moneysupermarket.com users, nearly a third of us (29%) are considering travelling outside Europe because of the poor exchange rate, while one in six (17%) are thinking about putting their plans on hold altogether and staying at home. Though a significant proportion of holidaymakers are still looking to Europe this summer, the recent warm weather here may tempt many to stay on home shores. Others may consider flying further afield, because while the pound is weak against the euro, it is strong against other currencies, particularly the US dollar. You can still get more than 1.9 dollars to the pound. TDC 8)
