Ok Lets have it Guys...Favourite B/Bar, and Taverna and why? I note with interest a few people we have met on holiday here this year, who, on finding out who Judi and I are, all say they watch this message board. But we must be an intimidating lot as they don't join!
So in the interests of providing information lets have this year's favourite haunts day time and night time plus why!
Day time for me is Marabu or Athina's (Fior D'Amour)
Tavernas this year are basically 3. To Perasma, Finikas but number one because Aris is there has to be Pergolas this year. (It is also the best for Greek food and most reasonably priced!)

We have never eaten in Ag Ef in the evening, but To Perasma has been our favourite lunchtime stop in the village for the last 8 years.
Why? - Well lunch there last week was typical........ hot weather, lots of locals dropping in for food and drinks, a German yacht giving up after 4 attempts at shipping the anchor (is it still there or did they employ the diving school?) ........... oh and the food is great too!!

For me, its Muses Taverna in Lourdas.
Spectacular surroundings, great service and very, very relaxing.

My favourite evening haunt is Dreams Beach Bar, St Barbaras beach, Katelios - reasonable prices, good food, beautiful views and a cooling sea breeze!
Day time has to be the Kastro at St Georges, Nicky and Spiro have a beautiful setting, their food is brilliant and its always the first place we take friends and family to when they get off the plane!
Hubby says its anywhere that sells Mythos 500ml at 2 euro!
:-D to be here!

Last year our top taverna for food was Finikas, with To Perasma a close second, so it will be interesting to see who will get our vote this year (next week).
TDC - we have started packing the suitcase!!!

And forgot to mention Petrini spiti in Peratata-the location might not be the most desired but the food is to die for................

To Kastro has to be my fav, it's timeless up there I can just sit and sit and sit.. The food is always good and the service likewise. Oh and to the "local" brits up there, who were telling there freinds, Spiro isn't greek american, and Nicky and Rozz aren't sisters
Best taverna, none this year really, Pitheria this year was c*rp, and we won't be going back again. the food used to be really good it there.
Andromeda, services etc great, but I think the food overated and under seasoned, thou we did eat there 3 times, bit of a story to that..
The best meal i had was a lunch at postside, we had a cheif slada and a hot meze plate, both were spot on, the meze plate everything was really fresh and full of flavour.

For me it has to be the Remetzo cafe in Poros Port. Sitting among the rocks looking over the sea is just heaven.
At night, back to Poros port and Otzivas Restaurant. Another great setting and to me, some of the best food on the island...........Then for a night cap, down to the Maistrali. Guess where? ...Back in Poros Port.! At least i don't have to stagger far back to my room!

Ellionas (Olive Grove). Its their second season and going from strength to strength. Its on the road to Spartia, if you drive out of Argostoli on the Lakithra road. near to the Keramies turning.
Excellent food ,excellent service, reasonable prices, lovely setting.
Must have eaten in most tavernas on ths side of the island and this one is a hard act to follow.

Hiya Shaz, Muses is very handy, I only live 20 meters away.
I can shout my order over the wall, in emergencies use my own loo, never run short of ciggies etc...
I am training my cat to nick the punters food and bring it home but things are not going to plan as yet.
:-D
P.S.
I'm beginning to feel sorry for jed.w, perhaps we should arrange a collection?

Hi Hugh,
what a fantastic bar to have as your local & how close is that, even better :-D
dont think we went in last year as everytime we went by there wasn't a single person in the place. Which I thought was very sad. Having said that we were there mid June & it proberbly picked up later on, hope so.

Hi Teggsy,
Last summer was not the best for Lourdas in general and Muses suffered also.
I must meet you and the gang there some night to bolster the numbers.
