Hot News - a Whale arrived in Sami Bay last night Not sure if the altercation with the ferry killed it or whether it was already dead but the late night ferry struck a whale last night. Sadly it is dead and is presently tied up behind the ticket office on the harbour where the Strinzis ferry docks. There has been a constant stream all day of folks having a look including the Mayor and most of Sami council first thing this morning. It will be there for a couple of days for folks to have a look before being removed.
Whale burgers anyone?

Orca ahoy! I started a post about this a couple of hours ago, then the phone rang and the whatsit hit the fan here and a rash of holiday/client emails/bookings took priority! Why does it all come at once?
Anyway the Killer Whale was the topic of conversation in the coffee shops this morning.
Sad to say I did not feel the urge to pay a visit to Sami this morning........now if it was still alive, different matter.
What was interesting is the question, what was the Orca was doing in the Ionian in the first place? Not a common sight here. I note with interest in today's paper Orcas are now believed to hunt Dolphins. Maybe another sign of declining big fish stocks and/or global warming. Anyway for sure the Harbingers of doom and gloom will read something into it. Maybe the fact that Orcas in the Ionian are a well documented common cause of cancer perhaps???? Or should the "Ban it" brigade in the UK ban future visits of Orcas to the Sami area as detrimental to Orca health.
Whatever, the Orca is long past caring. DTG has already called to ask if he can have some of the carcass for fish bait. He hopes to hook a couple of Dolphins on the pretext of fishing for Tuna.
Fine Zoot, put another Orca on the barbie I am on my way, seeing as it is a mammal and not a fish would red wine be OK?

Identity Crisis! It seems the Killer whale was in fact a sperm whale! Not an Orca as previously reported. I believe the body has now been removed to Argostoli where the flesh will be removed and the bones displayed in one of the museums.
Never mind, what ever it was I strongly advocate you avoid whale burgers on any menu here at the moment!
