Flight Lottery
Once agin we are in the flight-accomodation lottery. We visit usually twice a year and its: do we book all upfront and get ripped off on flights £250+ or leave it to the last minute and risk no flights and no accomodations. Are there any real cheap flights. When we pay £289 + seats together as we did in July (Booked in January) we find people on the plane with £75 each ways!!!! Any advice would be helpful for our next visit in September. Cheers Thomo

Hi Thomo, You pays yer money and you takes yer choice! :shock: Sometimes it hurts!!!!!! O.K. lets be a little more constructive here. I also feel I should point out to you in fairness others may know of me as Astro ( :wink: ) Facts 1. I do like bus drivers, they are a constant source of information. :wink: 2. As of right now according to the local rep Olympic Holidays have available accommodation in town because there are no flights available. Plenty of rooms but no way to get their holiday makers to the island. Why? 3. (Enter the bus driver information) Also as of now there are over 1000 people in Kefalonia Gdns near Lixouri, less than 50 of them will leave the resort their whole time on the island preferring to stay in situ as everything is free there! (All Inclusive holidays) So Long as First Choice are filling planes with Kefalonia Garden clients plane seat prices will remain high for independent travellers. 4. The knock on effect of facts 2 and 3 are airfares will remain high until the very last minute but flights will only be discounted if the plane is less than 70% full. If it is 90% full then the prices remain high. So there you have it, prices are high, it is a lottery, you find a price you are prepared to pay (if at all) and bite the bullet (or not) There will always be someone on a plane with a cheaper ticket than you. Galling and not fair it is true to say, but a fact of life. Waiting to see what happens if your dates are flexible may work, or may not who knows. But truthfully I am not sure accommodation will run short. Err.......... Apart from the better accommodation much of which is booked already. TDC 8)
