Cows????
I spotted on the news yesterday that following a price war some supermarket outlets in the UK are charging 25p for a pint of milk. In kefalonia, the local supermarket charges E1-90 a pint. Are there no cows in Kefalonia? :?

expensive milk
Hi Hugh, Milk is pricey here, but the farmers in Blighty will argue it is too cheap in the UK  and the big supermarkets are forcing farmers to accept less money now than ten years ago for their milk. We know how prices have risen in those 10 years, so the farmers argue they are going out of business. Especially as we now import more milk, eggs and chickens from France (chickens from china and far east now as well) than we produce in the UK It's part of the reason we are in deep Do do's in Blighty! We produce virtually nothing, we consume virtually everything! and we don't want to pay a realistic price for what we do produce! We are now a service industry nation in the UK living off each other or deriving an income from "Invisibles" So yes there are cows, you see 'em on the roads once the tourists have all gone home. But milk is bloody expensive here!!!!!! TDC 8)

Is it true Dave the Greek asks his visitors to bring their own milk? Kefalonia must send its milk abroad to be processed and bottled. The price is scandalous. DTC, in light of your comments perhaps a few UK dairy farmers should move to Kefalonia to ply their trade. :-(

There Are plenty cows out here! unfortunately they are produced only for meat. There is one vital ingredient missing for the production of milk, Grass, not the stuff you smoke, the stuff cows eat. By far the best milk out here comes from Poland, a country blessed by rain and green grass 8)
