trains and boats and planes Hi
Where you are staying, in which town or village?
With regard to scooter hire, frankly there are places all over that hire scooters and trail bikes, but there are draw backs.
1.You will burn!! the cool air passing over you can hide the burn effect whilst you are on the bike, but you do burn!! Always wear sun glasses, an insect hitting your face at 40 KPH hurts, and bees suffer a sense of humour failure and sting!!, the flying olives really hurt!!!!
2. The roads in places are........interesting, in a nutshell unless you are an experienced biker don't do it. :?
3. Scooters are underpowered for the hill climbs, last year we passed a lady walking up the road from Myrtos beach, the bike would not take the hairpin inclining bends with 2 up!! We gave her a lift, she was not a happy bunny.
Boat hire varies according to the size of the engine. Anywhere from 60 to 100 euros per day (plus fuel) in may you should be able to negotiate with the hire guy. Do not make the mistake of attempting the trip to Ithica....very tempting looks soooo close! The narrow straits between Kef and Ithica are some of the deepest in the ionian sea and the currents are dodgy, by 4 pm most afternoons a wind gets up and the mill pond can turn very choppy. There are more than enough little secluded bays to drop anchor and go naturist in!! Pay close attention when the guy tells you how to drop the anchor.....they take a dim view of losing the boat. Check the boat out before you leave for dents and scratches, you could end up paying for them. :?
That said Judi and I have had great fun messing about on the ionian! It's just common sense.
Car hire I have emailed you about. Billy may have words of warning regarding his experiences this February! Do not take the quoted rate as gospel, sometimes they quote a daily rate, then when you get there collision damage waiver (CDW) and insurance are added. (eh Billy!)
Let us know where you are staying and we can be more specific. Also just realised who you are now, where are you flying from, Manchester?
