Building hint! I have been watching the plasterers working on a house next door for 2 weeks now. Assuming all is well they should finish by tomorrow.
I am sure others may have noticed a tide line around many houses where the plasterers seem to have forgotten to plaster at the bottom all around the house. It is quite common, you see it everywhere and it looks bloody awful. Up until now I never understood how it happens or why!
:?
Now I do!
OK........the scene. You want a building plastered. You call the plasterer in and he measures your walls calculates the square metres and quotes you. You say OK and he starts the job..............eventually!
Easy............Hmm.....Day one, they start on one wall at the top and whack on the plaster, most of which ends up on the ground at the bottom of the wall, so they whack on more, most of which ends up........Get the picture?
Eventually they get round and leave it to dry for a few days, then the next slightly thicker layer goes up.......most of which ends up at the bottom of the wall.......Err... you with me here? There is a growing pile of spoil at the bottom of the wall to which they work with each layer. So as the layers go up the pile gets higher. Finally the Asvesty layer goes up and it looks all nice and white............all the way down to the top of the spoil heap, which is no longer is at ground level but half a metre up the wall. So when you clear it away............. Tide line!!!!!
:? :?
Now work it out half a metre all the way round the house not finished is a lot of metres you have paid for... unfinished!
:pirate:  Hmmmm............Now if it was me paying for this it would be unexceptable, yet most get away with the tide line.
WHY??????????? for pity's sake?
