Books I have read!
It's August and the town has at last become awful finally, full of cars, people and Italians. :? So time to hibernate in the villa with a good book. I also think the calmer Brits will be currently scouring the 3 for a tenner book section in Tescos looking for that interesting read for their September break. So Guys what have you read recently and what did you think of it? My recent list is as follows. Lynda La Plante (My thanks to Gillian and Fi for these) 1. Red Dahlia (Great read if a bit gruesome) 2. Royal Flush (Fantastic read, loved it!) 3. Currently reading Clean Cut (not as good as other two, but not finished it yet!) Dale Brown Fatal Terrain (Bit techie American strategic weapons stuff but a good read) Wings of Fire (as above) Tom Clancy Without Remorse ( great read, loved it) Rainbow six (good read) I am about to start Clancys "Debt of Honor" after Clean cut. If it is still August I may re- read Wilbur Smith's Egyptian series which starts with River God, Seventh Scroll, Warlock and finally, the Quest. All amazing reads. Loved every one. So what are your recommendations? TDC 8)

So Guys what have you read recently and what did you think of it? I looked up from the floor and saw a sign that said: Mind your head: I thought it could have been placed where it was visible

I've read those Wilbur Smith Egyptian books, they were all good. I used to try and find a new Eric Van Lustbader book at the airport every year but haven't managed it for a while. Don't know what's happened to him. Last year I read The Bone Collector and the next one, can't remember by whom. When I got home the film was on Sky and Denzil Washington was playing the lead. You know when you have your own ideas from the text and description what a character should look like. Well he wasn't Denzil Bloody Washington in my imagination. This year I will be reading 'How to influence people thru Pyramid Selling' and Cherie Blairs Book, oh no, wait, I'm taking that one to wipe my arse on. jed.w 8)

Cricketfan is still wading through Alastair Campbell's book! He started reading it on our holiday last year and is still reading it!! In the meantime I have read in the last few weeks: Donna Leon - Death at La Fenice (quite good) Rose Tremainn - The Road Home (didn't really enjoy it) Judith O'Reilly - Wife in the North (brilliant, well written) Julia Gregson - East of the Sun (enjoyed it) Linwood Barclay - No time for goodbye (good plot) Jill Dudley - Ye Gods! (good if you are interested in Greek history) MM Kaye - Death in Cyprus (good if you are interested in Cyprus) On a slightly different subject, have any of you seen the film Mamma Mia!?? I thought it was wonderful (I love the music of Abba, like Greek islands and like Meryl Streep so this was a winner!) I had visions of Judi in the lead role, with all of us following her and dancing around the harbour at Agia Efimia!! The three male leads could be TDC, DTG and Ari!!!!!!

Fantastic
Forgot one, just put it back in the book shelf "The Winner" by David Baldacci or what ever the spelling is. Amazing book TDC 8) By the way Babis from To Persamia had a baby boy.....or more accurately his wife Anthula had the baby, all well and Babis will be annoyed on his return from Patras when we all call him "DADDY" from now on.

Since I read The Island I have also wanted to go to see Spinalonga Island. This week on Francesco Da Mosto's programme about sailing from Venice to Istabul via Greece and Islands, he stopped off at Spinalonga and had a walk round. It looks fascinating!
